AnonymousI know right? I read that and was immediately like —- HOLD UP. Wtf did I just read? Like, the last few sentences are fine, you know, but I mean….come ON. You don’t owe them ANYTHING? Maybe in some cases, but MOST cases, you AT LEAST owe your parents your gratitude for creating you, you know? Without them, you wouldn’t be here. There are special cases, but I can guarantee that 99% of the people who reposted that were born and raised and fed and housed by at least one parent if not two who made SOME KIND of sacrifice for them, or spent SOME TIME with them just having fun or being a parent, or did SOMETHING worth at LEAST gratitude, if not respect.
And for those kids with parents who were awful, abusive, terrible… yeah you can be bitter about it, or you can learn from it and thank them for teaching you how NOT to be. How NOT to raise and love and take care of a kid, and then you can go and do better, even if you never become a parent. You’ll still end up a better person. So even then, you owe them your thanks.
And if that’s not a lesson you learned, you need to reevaluate your life and your childhood. Always take something good away from the bad. Every experience is a learning experience, if you make it so.
